i'm digging this album. my brother turned me on to them, so props to him.

istanbul is quite nice. lots of people (rather fine looking people, i may add), old buildings (duh), hills, old cobblestone (i think) streets, stray cats, rugs, belly dancer outfits, really freaking strong coffee, and mosques (again, duh). i'll post pictures once i take some and have time to.

since we're working for fed ex, i knew there would be some memphians on the trip. i asked if they were familiar with union, and it turns out that couple of them got their MBAs through the germantown campus. so that's cool. i was disappointed to find that they've never eaten at texas de brazil though. psh.

yesterday was a long hard day of scouting, but it went very very well. they looked at the pictures joe snapped yesterday and absolutely loved what they saw. this is very good.

today is a day off, so i've been chilling in my room all morning. there's nothing good on tv. i'm going out with joe this afternoon to re-scout a location so he can get a better idea of what he needs to do when we shoot.

we have two shoot days here, then we're off to berlin.

this continues to be happy bradley :)

been a busy week...

had the joy of our main computer crashing on me the other night, so that's at the apple store getting fixed.

i'm off to the oregon coast for a week.

i come back long enough to hang out with my family, unpack, do laundry, repack, and get back on a plane.

to europe.

for two and a half weeks.

last week was good. i got to go home and spend time with lots of friends and family. mom got to spend mother's day with all of her kids, which was very nice. brandon and steph got their masters of divinity from gardner-webb. brittney graduated from the esteemed institute of wartburg central high school. and in between those two ceremonies, i got to see friends from union and go to the ben gibbard (of death cab and the postal service), david bazan (pedro the lion), and johnathan rice show in nashville thanks to zach.

my schedule through the end of june...

houston texas today and tomorrow for sports illustrated (23-24).

westport friday through thursday (25-31), except the morning of the 30th for a re-shoot at kinkos.

oregon coast friday through thursday for dlws (1-7).

nyc with the fam friday (8).

westport packing and prepping saturday for the fedex trip (9).

istanbul sunday through saturday (10-16).

berlin sunday through wednesday (17-20).

rome thursday through tuesday (21-26).

back to westport wednesday (27).

and i have to get all of the images ready for joe's book somewhere in there.

if i don't post for a while, you know why.

i'm in north carolina. my brother and sister-in-law got their mdivs today. we go home tomorrow. i might go to nashville tomorrow night if we get home in time. then jackson monday-wednesday. then back home. my sister graduates from high school saturday.

i'm tired. that's all.

there's a mouse in my room.

i'm trying to lure him into a gladware bowl with cheese so i can throw him outside.

that's more humane than a mousetrap, right?

it's going to be a busy couple of months.

may 3: archbishop demetrios portrait
may 8: joe's apple soho in-store event
may 11-20: brother & sister-in-law's seminary graduation, visit to union, and sister's high school graduation
rest of may: possibly another sports illustrated shoot, and i myself (not joe) shooting something for a fedex newsletter, if we can figure out scheduling...

june 1-7: dlws oregon
june 8 or 9: hang out with the fam in nyc
june 10-?: if everything works out... two or so weeks in europe. istanbul, rome, and berlin.

finishing up joe's book somewhere in the midst of all this... it's supposed to be coming out end of the summer or thereabouts.

xanga use continues to decline.

for those of you who post pictures on xanga, facebook, flickr, etc. and have problems with the colors looking like CRAP, read this article. again... http://www.somebits.com/weblog/tech/photo/color-management-in-photoshop.html

it's a matter of browsers ignoring the color profile that is embedded in the file. most people work in adobe rgb 1998 (though top industry people suggest you should be switching to the pro photo profile because it's a much bigger color space. if you don't know what that means, just take my word for it when i say that your images will look better and more true to their colors... back to what i was saying though), but browsers ignore that fact and use the sRGB profile (which is stupid and it sucks). so convert to sRGB before saving the file you're posting to the web, then post.

but DO NOT overwrite your original file. you lose lots of color information by doing that. it's a long-ish explanation that i don't have time to go into right now, but if you really want to know i'll explain it at some point. but if you dont', then i won't.
